Никакого дерьма

This got me crying with laughter, thank you! :D There's a special charm in the literal translations of idioms that I value very highly. Никакого дерьма indeed.

It almost sounds like the unnamed, senior official may know what words mean. Time will tell.

Right? It sounds like someone had an epiphany.

For some reason I get the sense that all the blustering the elites do about going green and eliminating that evil hydrocarbon from that evil country stuff is just that - blustering - they know they are lying but need to pander to the useful idiot class who think Greta, 'Lurch' Kerry, Al & Co have working brains just to stay in power for a few more years, until the people finally see that the emperor in fact has no clothes...

Of course they are. It's all about control. They know they face no questioning or push back from the idiot sheep. The 12 years are up? Does anyone remember the promises that "the world will end"? Even when Trump brings it up, the sheep just get more angry at him.

What happens when 2030 rolls around and none of their "goals" will have been met? They'll just blame the opposition and double down harder with a 2040 goal. And you can guarantee that no matter what they push, it will include more centralized control, lowering standards of living, and making people less self-reliant and less secure.

“…the time when the Brits still did brilliant comedy.” We still do - it’s called Government…. farce.

Pretty sure that's tragedy and not comedy, but the difference may be in the eye of the beholder...

“… to prevent further gas blow-out and the introduction of oxygenated seawater.”

Not oxygenated water! Gadzooks!

Et tu O2 - traitor! a pollutant like your cell-mate and partner in crime, CO2. Only a matter of time before we must deoxygenate our economies to save the planet. And will the same fate befall the other radical O… H2O? They have made a start on that in California. Water is bad for the environment it seems, particularly little fish, and a threat to wild fires.

Interesting that oil companies have given up on developing offshore Greenland. It seems that producing gas in sub zero temperatures is “too hard” since it forms clathrates or methyl “ice”. I wonder if any of these companies had run into this before? I can’t write Russian but as an American I can say Duh!

Oh Irina, what a mess in Europe! The plot thickens. All self-induced as far as I can see with the Klimate Kult at the center of the action. And Germany is holding elections next month. Thrilling.

"The ten chihuahuas" You should think about a trademark on that label. I always look forward to reading you narratives first thing in the morning. Helps me get the day off to a proper start.

Another good one - thank you Irina! Yes, in regards to the EU mafia, Norwegian politicians have long hated the fact that they are law-takers, not law-makers, and must travel in lock-step. I'm not sure about modern times, but the political class certainly used to want to become EU members, while their pesky electorate twice decided otherwise.

While today we discuss mankind's progression through the ages of using fuels, from wood to coal to oil and gas to uranium, the Vikings burned villages, though it may have been for recreation rather than energy. Unlike the others, I've no idea of the calorific value of a typical Viking-age village.
