Very well said.

Yes, in that sense the climate cult pushers are their own worst enemy. The more they ram the narrative down the public’s throat the more people resist.

Breton made a fool of himself; but at the same time there were enough people who supported what he was trying to do

He is a symbol of mediocrity and authoritarianism, a pathetic parasite only relevant because he has been given power which he is abusing to feed his sense of self importance

The problem is - any tyrant or dictator or whatnot does not govern alone. The likes of Saddam or Stalin or whoever had some public support, the 20-30% of the population who thrived underneath them. And EU publics appear increasingly irrelevant to these bureaucrats, so bold and brazen has their behavior become.

Yes, those would be the same people who claim they support freedom of speech but only for speech that they approve of.

yes, the transition cultists demand that you change your energy use, while holding themselves above having to toe the same line. And then they wonder why they are both hated and ignored.

Have to agree Irina, Thierry Breton’s letter was like poking a stick in a hornet’s, sorry, the likes of ‘X’s (fka the Twitterati) nest. As when it comes to free speech Elon Musk is hardly a bastion of that, more a case of don’t do as I do, do as I say. To quote:

Telegraph 06/08/2024 Podcast: The Daily T: Is Elon Musk enabling the far-Right?

Tim Stanley: “Right, so Elon believes in free speech, he’s sacked workers at Twitter who’ve publicly criticised him. Elon believes in freedom, he won’t allow his workers to unionise, right, so it is a freedom which happens to align with the interests of a really really rich American industrialist, that’s why, and I go back to the point I made at the beginning [of this podcast] I don’t believe in free speech in a sense that I think people say they want free speech but what they’re really saying is (a) my view is not being heard loud enough and (b) I’d like the freedom to shout over you so that everyone can hear me, the day, the day that Elon Musk says to Tesla workers guys you can unionise, and criticise me as much as you like in public, I’ll believe he’s just a big old cuddly libertarian, but I don’t, I don’t believe it.”🤔

“I’m not sure I should have kids on a planet that may not be safe for them to inhabit…” Anyone saying that to me and I’d insist they didn’t have kids - don’t want more like their parents. The EC Loon must have had an irony bypass. Thousands of US citizens were killed and maimed in WWII so Europeans - including that nitwit - could enjoy freedom of speech.

Sadly I must report freedom of speech is no more in the UK under the new Dark Lord Two Tier Keir. (Search Two Tier Keir for full information. )

Good point. Yes, I saw what happened in the UK. HOW did it happen? How did people let it happen?

The Darwin Award goes to the climate extremists, who are voluntarily removing their faulty genes from the pool:))

In fact, I think this is one of their most endearing characteristics. they won't have children who will be indoctrinated about things like climate change

Expand full comment

Yes. In the past I attempted to convince these folks that their conclusion was based on faulty assumptions and reasoning. Now I just nod along sagely. If they're not having kids, problem solved in the long run.

Applause, indeed.

"Musk Gag Order Attempt" Gee, what would that acronym be... ?

I must confess that I have one of those as a child. She is 'progressive'. Upon graduating law school and moving to a city in flyover USA, she needed a vehicle to take full advantage of the amenities afforded by a sprawling American city. Mind you, she lives and works in the downtown. It is a 0.7 mile (1.1 km) walk to and from work. She is athletic and fit. And given her progressive cred, you might assume she walks to work. That would be wrong. Point is, they are all talk and no walk. On the other hand, I would be embarrassed not to walk it every day.

"progressive cred".....Love it!

She will probably grow out of it. Most, I believe, do at some point. But good point about the talk and the walk. I remember someone telling me a story about a climate activist driving an SUV and lecturing others on why their car preferences are bad. Upon someone pointing out that the lecturer himself drove a gas guzzler the response was "But I need it!"

Like all the degrowthers, they will tell you that you only need the stuff that makes up a "reasonable" life style -- all sounds very reasonable -- but the punch line is that they and their ilk get to decide what is "reasonable" for everyone else.

Expand full comment

Exactly. Meaning everyone else but them because they're special.

While I agree it is kind of fun to watch the self important getting deflated by the realities of the world, I am now rather concerned about the vaunted WHO's recent declaration that monkeypox is a global health emergency and if that means they will implement some fun draconian rules (and if a vax is miraculously created, will the folks in New Zealand who want to refuse getting jabbed be tied down and jabbed anyway...

https://www.toronto99.com/2024/08/09/new-zealand-may-starting-administering-vaccines-by-force-report/

Expand full comment

Not to forget that WHO has rebranded monkey pox to just “mpox” so that it removes the risk of any possible discrimination against Africa.

Expand full comment

And I don't know if this relates, but evidently if you check the paperwork that comes with the AstraZenica covid jab item 6 says it contains "Recombinant, replication-deficient chimpanzee adenovirus vector encoding the SARS-CoV-2 Spike glycoprotein"

So there is one conspiratorial school of thought that asks if this means folks who got the jab then will test positive for mpox...

But nah, that cannot possibly be the case...

Expand full comment

That would be utterly idiotic but confirm the stupidity hypothesis. they already tried it two years ago, it didn't work and now they think it's safe to try again? Good luck. New Zealand is going down the totalitarian path fast. What happened to all these once great and wonderful countries, I wonder.

The new hybrid cars seem to emit a high pitched whirring sound that is quite loud. I wonder why. I will not get in one because of how the batteries tend to blow up explosively and also they can be remote controlled. What's not to love there?
