I don’t know if any of you have watched The Cleaning Lady, a pretty decent TV series, but in case you don’t have time for watching TV series, let me just say there’s a lot of blackmailing going on.
Climate change has occurred for millennia. These days, climate change, formerly dba as global warming is code for peak oil. That explains the propaganda to "save the planet". The planet does not need saving. The people do. They need saving from an experimental bioweapon called a "vaccine". Check VAERS, EUDRA et.al. The globalists want to reduce the global population by MANY billions. Wars and so-called vaccines will help do the trick. There is insufficient oil for 8 billion people. See peekoilbarrel.com
NOTE: A reader reached out to note there is, in fact, no scientific consensus on the anthropocentric hypothesis about climate change. I agree there isn't but I wanted to frame my comments within the dominant narrative. Just wanted to point this out.
Tough to watch these shenanigans being gamed by unelected elites. I'm 70. Thank god I'll miss NetZero. But I'll have to watch the slow-motion train wreck. Oh well.
First we had greenwashing. Now we have greenmail. I predict that the traditional black market - the illegal place where you go to get stuff your government has made scarce - will branch out to include the green market. Indonesia recommends creating an OPEC-like alliance with other battery mineral mining countries. Well, go ahead! Nothing promotes fossil fuels more effectively than pricing "green" out of the market.

What a sham or a scam, pick one. Proof positive that this has nothing whatsoever to do with climate change & emissions reduction, but everything to do with enforced poverty, populations reduction, degrowth and deindustrialization. In all their agreements, in all their demands of developing nations, including this latest $20B deal Indonesia made with the US, EU & Japan, the text specifically states moving to renewables, aka wind & solar, but zero mention in any of their agreements of nuclear, in fact excludes nuclear, the one and only energy source capable of replacing fossil.
Indonesia has had a tepid sponsorship of Thorcon power, which has a plan to factory produce floating nuclear reactors at a scale that could decarbonize Indonesia's electricity sector in a matter of 20-30yrs. With dual 500MWe reactors consuming 5kg of uranium/day. No wonder the Davos Malthusians are so eager to divert Indonesia to wind & solar, before Thorcon power spools up.
I liked Bash’s comment. In other words what has changed? Not much really.
On another tack though, when will we stop regarding China as a developing country. With the second largest economy on the planet and perhaps the largest number of billionaires of any nation, why should it be given a concession to make it to where the rich countries want to be by 2025, to get there by 2070?
India too, the third largest emitter, is perhaps a slightly different story, but still pouring money onto “dirty” coal. though I do concede that India is also spending a lot of money on nuclear power.
Surely there is more to be gained by putting pressure on India and China to do better and perhaps even spending some money there. In poorer African countries whose emissions are piffling and people are scrounging any scrap of wood, dung or anything else that will burn to cook food, while worthy of our help wont have much effect on global emissions. Humanitarian help, including with clean energy sources ,yes, but just how much of this COP27 blackmail just advertising?
In all of this no one mentions the elephant in the room: The ever decreasing number of trees and plants to soak up CO2 from the atmosphere. More trees please!
I think a lot of it is advertising but the plans sound serious enough to be pointed out. Trying to put pressure on China and India is warranted but it will be tricky. Nothing's to stop them from saying "We won't play along because we need that energy". Which is what they've been saying all the way, actually.
Well I don’t see any funding coming from the USA in the next few years with the Republicans guarding the funds (and agreeably so) with control of the House. Why don’t the rich countries of India and China anti up billions because they both continue to fund coal plants and contribute significantly to so called global warming. Can we say hypocrisy hoping the woke left in the EU and in North America just give money because of their guilt. As some including you have alluded to would not it be better to raise up the affected third world with investment in fossil fuels to bring up their people and economies so that they can eventually switch to cleaner generation sources. But no the woke scare the world people that the world will end by 2030 or is it 2035 or maybe 2045, I’m so confused being so scared.
@Bunny I am with you!!! 69 here. I have said it before here. Climate change has always happened and is happening right now, and there is nothing we can do about it. Save the planet is a joke and a religion not based on fact but faith. Several extinction events two that we humans know of, and our planet is still here, and life thrives here. We humans cannot kill the planet and if you believe that I feel sorry for you. Currently there is no technology developed to blow up planet earth.
The last time these dire predictions were made by Gore and the EU. What happened ? Absolutely nothing they predicted came true not one. The current dire predictions to scare people will prove false as well and yet people believe this crap. THIS TIME THEY ARE MORE DIRE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ARE AFRAID AFTER THE PANDEMIC. Covid is a valid virus but nothing dire and in fact if you continue to take the boosters and you may find yourself with heart and circulatory problems. All pointed out to us before we took the shots and yet censured from us until recently.
If you really want the truth, follow the money as this is what this is all about you and I paying to breath AIR.
Personally I don't think this will happen - I think it's more showboating. Properly assessing the UKs impact on any country would, I suggest, be pretty tricky, if not impossible and attaching a financial quantum beyond most Govt bureaucrats. Any in any event, unless you are a developing nation run by a Dictator why would you want to reject cheap, reliable, dispatchable, fit for purpose sources of energy??? Oh wait... quite a lot of Dictators could well be attracted to it.
So, in other words -
Rich countries make loans with strings attached
Those strings are specific, and its a "you are not obliged to take my money, but if you do, these are my conditions"
Oh and by the way if you don't take my money its because you're not comitted to NetZero and will be shunned and perhaps sanctioned
Oh and there's no assurance that this will work. In fact all evidence shows that it doesn't. But we don't care because.... *drumroll*
Poor countries will stay poor. Colonialism, thy name is Climate Financing
Succinct.
Well said Bash. You are right on.

I'll never tire of repeating that thinking we can "destroy" the planet is peak arrogance.

Look at it this way: at least it won't be boring. That's how I keep my sanity.

First world countries don't just "GIVE" money to poorer countries.
They loan money to them so they can buy junk that the donor countries make.
It's called money laundering.
All the so called green energy trash has to be sold to someone.

Good work again Irina.
