Its really getting a bit scary that such prominent figures in politics can come up with ideas like this that make no sense at all. Earth to Germany....The Russian dream is over..... Start funding some E&P somewhere or flash up as many of your nuclear power plants that you can or do both. Doesn't matter how you manipulate it with taxes and finance schemes you need calories to heat water and the people wont like it when it gets cold and they get cold.
You cannot make it up .. reality it becomes satire.
When our minister for economy Mr. Habeck told an astonished tv audience some weeks ago (answering on the question if he sees economic issues coming and a lot of businesses going bankrupt), he answered, that "if a business does not sell for two or three month, that does not mean they're going bankrupt..." - That lead Germans to a lot of memes of the like "he didn't die, he just stopped breathing"; "it's not inflation, it's only that the money has less value"
Today there are regional elections in the Land "Niedersachsen"; we'll see if the Germans will express opposition against the current direction of government. My guess: No. They're still against nuclear and coal, because this "is evil".
There are a lot of voices against this economic suicide. But the mass media and the tv supports still the current direction and they silence that opposition; worse: they have started to tell us that all this is "the new normal" (not having electricity for 3-4 hours a day etc.)
I remember that magnificent quote. A truly impressive level of ignorance. How could an English PhD even become economy minister? Culture, makes sense, but the economy? Do you know why he was picked for this job?
Very simple: he was one of the two party leaders of the Greens last year. The other person was our Mrs. Baerbock, currently in the job as minister of foregin affairs.
In Germany is is usual that the ones who arrived at the head of their parties will get one of the more important ministries; with no respect for competence.
In fact, Mrs. Baerbock was last April, 6 month before the election and at the beginning of the campaign, touted everywhere in the ms media as "the new fresh candidate to replace Mrs. Merkel as chancellor". Mrs. Baerbock admitted that she raised two children and that this fact proved her management capabilities, the rest - as far as I remember - she would "learn on the job". - Afterwards some bloggers and non-ms journalists began to scrutinize her university diplomas , and after two month there was nothing more to defend (it was not entirely fake, but no real diplomas).
I think this tells all. - I encounter still people who do not think that this is an issue. My fellow citizens are strange people.
Wow, this is impressive. Raising two children as proof enough you can run a country. On the other hand, come to think of it, in Bulgaria we've been lied to and manipulated and robbed by lawyers and economists for about three decades now, so I don't know if one's worse than the other...
Absolutley a blast!! Well done. you can not buy this kind of material for comedy writers. Great Job!
Thanks!

I agree., Such mind-boggling incompetence is scary.
Thanks, Irina!

If I was selling natural gas into Germany I would get them to pay full price prior to delivery.
Makes perfect sense. These are uncertain times.
Hahah! Gas cap? No,no, baseball cap. Remove and reposition as needed.
The sausage makers just keep making sausages. It’s not a pretty sight.
