The "big brains" in government and the un-educated masses need to experience a lot more pain before adhering to the objectively correct model of reality...such is the never ending curse of humanity.

Regrettably - you are absolutely right...

True, sadly.

Thank you for yet another excellent article.

Nice piece here @Irina Slav. A very eloquent turn of phrase here, "It takes a special kind of genius to devise an elaborate though simple trap, build it and then get caught in it, which is exactly what Europe did."

The toe bones connected to the … ankle bone and the ankle bones connected to the lonely bone… the lonely bones connected to the drinking bone and we might as well get drunk (while waiting for a party to tear the whole thing down)

Might as well. Let's not forget the warming properties of alcohol. That's some kWhs saved there.

Reality: There is no climate emergency. Earth and its people are thriving like never before. Fossil fuels and the internal combustion engine are the backbone of our economies. Nuclear is the future because there is no other reasonable alternative. Happy Easter.

This reality is way too boring to trend on Twitter. Happy Easter.

Your article is perspicacious. Dr. L. Schernikau and I are writing science-based articles on renewable energy for Germany, perhaps the leading country in the 'energy transition'.

One of the major neglected issues is the enormous mining and commodity demand, and the lack of investment in all the above, plus hydrocarbon energy resources. The first two references are: “How many km2 of solar panels in Spain and how much battery backup would it take to power Germany”, SSRN, DOI: 10.2139/ssrn.3730155), Nov. 2020 and "Climate impacts of fossil fuels in today’s electricity systems,”, Nov. 2021, preprint The Journal of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, VOLUME 122 MARCH 2022 http://dx.doi.org/10.17159/2411-9717/1874/2022, "Full cost of electricity ‘FCOE’ and energy returns ‘eROI’" also with Prof. Rosemary Falcon is being reviewed. A science-based paper on German wind resources will be ready in a week or so. These are available if you are interested. Ahead are analyses in connection with 'green' H2 and Net Zero 2050. I look forward to your further contributions.

So glad I have recently discovered your blog - an excellently written piece that lays bare the brutal truth confounding the green energy transition. Keep them coming.

There is this thing that governs the physical world of man called the laws of thermodynamics. Ouch!!!!

Yeah, politically incorrect and inconvenient, the lot of them.

Why waste money for onshore and offshore wind farms? Cost over 2-3 billion dollars for GW capacity, occupy and spoil huge natural areas. The most important is they are never able to supply enough electricity 23000 Twh for our World, but they use up a lot of fossil energy for cement, steel, metal and other materials, to build and install wind farms, create more carbon and emission, and accelerate climate change worse.

“Small turbines can outperform conventional wind farms, Stanford Prof. says, with no bird kill”

With this idea, I successfully invented an advanced integrated wind farm system. And published on uspto.gov with app# 20210017956, title: “wind tower complex”. Only 150 million dollars for 1.2 GW capacity. Almost no areas are occupied. Because it can create 10 times more useful areas it occuplied. More can easily produce over 160000 TWh more than enough electricity, fuel and energy for our World without any problem! Solve the energy and climate crisis within a short time. Because I can’t do it all by myself! Sincerely looking for more people working together to build a sustainable future for better living! Interested? When decisions are made for political reasons, it is unlikely you will be able to ever get from point A to point B. Why? The folks making policy on power production do not produce power. They also regulate food production without any experience (generally) in producing then delivering food. The rapid switch to electrical vehicles vs. gasoline or diesel powered cars (trucks are a different set of screw ups) is not physically possible. Children like to play pretend. Government is not the solutions, the market is. It is now like the child playing pretend. The consequences of this will be frightening.

This is an excellent analogy. They are like children playing pretend.
