“Big Oil continues to conceal the facts about their business model and obscure the actual dangers of fossil fuels… “
Well they’ve done a poor job of concealment since Master Jamie and his playmates have been banging on about the ‘actual dangers’ for 30 years or so. Like Big Tobacco hiding the ‘actual dangers’ of cigarettes which everybody had known about for at least five decades.
I was a child of the 50s and sternly warned by my parents - both smokers - not to smoke as it was bad for my health. In my teens I often heard cigarettes referred to as gaspers, coffin nails, cancer sticks. I never smoked. In the 1960s/70s health warnings appeared on cigarette packs in the USA. How juries (USA) concluded people didn’t know and awarded $billions in pay outs, is testament to the clown circus the US justice system is - as is on display now with OrangeManBad.
In the UK a lawsuit against AstraZeneca is underway over its clot-forming mRNA junk, but some litigants have dropped out after AstraZneca claimed the clot-forming side effect was already known prior to them receiving the shot. That being so, how did it get into their arms? Why wasn’t it recalled, use immediately stopped, public/medical profession notified in the media. Funny old World.
Wonderful piece. Interestingly enough, Sen. Whitehouse is in charge of the Budget for the U.S. Senate and yet has held NO hearings on the budget at all. Unlike the climate, he could actually do something about the budget, but that is hard work.
I was a little puzzled about the nature of that hearing and its relevance for budgetary issues but I decided there must be some if they are doing it and who am I to question the U.S. Senate.
Of course, none of us have ever needed or wanted oil or gas, it's just those horrible energy companies foisting it upon us. Fancy us all being hoodwinked for over a century. It makes me laugh (or cry perhaps) that these folk have the temerity to point the finger at oil and gas companies as if they were somehow unaware of the downside to civilisation. They have more neck than a giraffe.
Their failure in thinking has always been inherent in the use of "addiction" when speaking about oil and gas. Addiction is not the right term for things like food and water.
Could the senate please discuss Big Oils role in Climate Change on the Planet Mars. If they don't stop now oil could destroy another planet, HaHa.........
We should faster up all the bugs and especially the forecast big explosion of cicadas to feed these people, add a tablespoon of fake meat and then send them off home to their twig hut with no heat, electricity, plumbing. Force them to live their own lifestyle and not let them back into civilized lifestyle - after all that’s what they want for the masses of truly poor people in the world.
Do you think we will EVER see the day that the Aristocracy will be served up bugs for one of their fancy meals at the annual Davos Circle Jerk of Virtue Signalling Elites? Instead of exotic meats flown in by jet from Africa.
You'd be as welcome as a skunk to a garden party. But if we could get you in there, by claiming you're the Wokest, non-white, LGBQTS on the planet, I bet you could sucker a bunch of them into eating ground up dung beetles. The same way some native women grifter managed to cough right in their faces in front of the camera, forcing them to smile like they really enjoyed it.
Higher interest rates and higher bank reserves = tight money. That and the lack of growth in the grid infrastructure will surely put the pause on renewables growth, especially offshore wind. Fortunately, oil and gas companies have enough cash flow, since they are profitable - wow - that's quite a concept - that they don't need to borrow much from banks.
Another gem from Irina. The cited Shell game is one I could learn to love. I wish more oil companies would concentrate on (proudly) producing oil and stop trying to appease anti-humanist Malthusians who will never be appeased.
Yeah, image. China will still be eating our lunch for a while. Where was the AI industry created as China just waits until it is highlighted and sinks U.S. Dollars into making room for the tech to move to its shores.
Control, money and unencumbered, insulated influence.
Control, as Marty has pointed out, plus greed, and sheer, genuine, bottomless stupidity and incompetence.
“Skidmark” hahaha- I got a good laugh out of this excellent juvenile humor!
:D It was almost unintentional.

Excellent point. The "actual dangers" of tobacco had been known since what, the 50s?

Of course. Any half decent smoker would advise their children not to smoke based on first-hand experience.
I have zero recollection about AZ or any other pharma warning about the risk of blood clots prior to their advertising of the shots. Liars.
Woah! I was about to sell my BTU stock since it hasn't gone anywhere in a long time. Now that I know coal will be phased out, I'll hold on.

And there’s no lobby graft to be collected from doing the job!!

Yes, billions of unwitting addicts who never got any benefit out of their addiction.
fungal infections and climate litigators....! priceless. :)
Some excellent writing right there. Real journalism together with whit and humor.
Perfect for a Friday.
All Energy Matters, especially those platforms that earn their own way.
Thank you!

Well, how much plastic "pollution" have we sent to Mars....?

If they would invite me I would make sure they got some!! But those arrogant bastards won’t invite me!!

Irina, thank you for the information, but its kind of a microaggression- 🤣
Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne of Dumb and Dumber are Einsteins compared to this Mob of Morons.
Yes!
Irina,
I love your quote “Too bad passion rarely keeps company with reason.”
Well said!
Thank you, Jon!

Stellar, Irina!
