Bravo! The lemming parade is gaining traction. How far off is the cliff? I hope it is well elevated.

Perhaps Ms. Hooper & her bobblehead buddies could set up a new Transition Exchange. The green companies could become members, & there would be a race to the bottom, or bankruptcy, since profits don't matter in the weird world of transition shenanigans. As always, thanks for another outstanding article! 🤘😎🤘

Wonder if one of the reasons why Big Tech suddenly loves the idea of building data centers in the US is because their favorite tax haven, Ireland, has told them "enough". Here in Texas our government has been very generous to Chinese bitcoin miners, paying them to turn off the juice to feed the grid and letting them have it (literally) the rest of the time. But now, they want to add generation capacity to their former aluminum smelter site. The neighbors are already fed up with the noise, and are unlikely to support this move.

"Free" wind and solar, and "Free" natural gas in the hinterlands are great, until everyone lines up to use them, when they're not. Everyone in this case is not the rate paying public of course. It's "everyone" who's lined up for government loans and tax subsidies.

It is just a little fun to watch the ‘incompetent ones’ at ‘Think Tanks’ going crazy at the drip, drip, drip of their utopian plans going up in smoke like wood burning in a chimney.

Tyranny Tyranny Tyranny. They will not stop in spite of the mentioned carnage. Who voted these people in? Or were they?

The climatocatastrophists need to get a real job where they get dirty and sweat - their fundamental understanding of creating energy would take an about face. After all they are used to spin moves.

Interesting summary.

Northvolt - lost a key contract with BMW. Scania (part of VWG) nearly walked as well, so it's down to co-investor Volvo Car (Geely) to help keep the battery dream alive in the EU27.

Zero emission vehicles (EU27 speak for 'zero exhaust pipe emissions'). This is a double hit. A tax per gramme of CO2 per km, per vehicle, over the manufacturer specific weighted target based on a fleet average CO2 nominal limit of 95 g/km. The price or each gramme for each car over the limit? €95.

At the very same time UK and EU27 have a tax penalty for not selling an ever climbing proportion of BEVs - in effect each internal combustion engine powered vehicle sold instead of a BEV adds to the CO2 tax plus further penalty fees - per vehicle, if below target.

ACEA are right. This is destroying the EU27 industry and handing it over to China.

This was all evident way back on 2010, and has been getting worse ever since.

When all the economic and other inputs are truly accounted for, modern complicated technologies NEVER result in truly affordable improvements. The costs/damages from the new tech are always much higher than the final, long term profits or benefits. Constant new tech is there to extract wealth from the system and funnel it upwards. A common example, how vinyl records became magnetic tape, which migrated from 8 tracks to cassettes, and then to cd's, and all the associated players and recordings we can all remember buying, and buying, and buying again in different formats. An extreme example, Tesla cars and pagers that are also bombs. Sucking the people dry or worse, killing them outright, with endless 'new tech'. And the jabs, of course, meant to cull. The Amish sure are looking pretty smart these days, eh?

How to write a long paragraph and actually say nothing of substance:

"Lindsay oversaw the Institute’s board, executive and practitioner-level education including its postgraduate programmes, online courses, leadership seminars, customised programmes and advisory services for major clients. She has led significant expansion of CISL’s routes to impact, including innovating in new propositions, collaborations and expansion into new geographies. She has personally led engagements across banking, extractives, retail, utility and manufacturing sectors, as well as with major municipalities and SOEs in China and the Middle East – engagements which have resulted in transformational change and enhanced organisational performance. She has deep experience of harnessing the talents and expertise of leading experts and innovators internationally, building high-performing teams and long-term collaborations to develop leading edge programmes that deliver significant, positive impacts."

Northvolt is not quite down yet. Would be some failure. 15 billion in equity, loans and subsidies down the drain in a matter of years. The good news is that the government of Sweden has ruled out providing life support.

Thank you Irina. I imagine a company CEO telling shareholders that his company would be doing really well if only the economy could be redesigned (a la Ms Hooper), and receiving a rapturous response.

What a plethora of think tanks and initiatives! I keep hoping for a source of an appropriate acronym, such as Utilities' Scheme for Environmental Leadership, Energy Scalability and Sustainability.

I'm not sure whether Northvolt's position is terminal, but have discovered that the largest shareholder with 21% of the shares, is unhappy Volkswagen.
