Ah, yes, you have a special case of cognitive dissonance, especially in British Columbia, I believe. I remember the inter-province war with Alberta about the Trans-Mountain expansion and how heroically BC opposed to it but was happy to continue receiving fuel along the existing Trans Mountain pipe.
