Who is John Galt?

100%. Stop selling them the rope of carbon prosperity with which they will hang us.

The problem with all logic is the leftist greenies are immune to it evidenced by the plethora of facts against their movement and mantra narrative. It’s truly mental illness. The self proclaimed elitists exempt themselves from everything and in their utopian minds demand that everything and every luxury are to be delivered to themselves, by edict.

It’s really perplexing on how to deal with these behaviors as nothing normal works. But alas, the answer is in the WEF objective to just eliminate that population. Darwin never realized that the survival of the fittest would apply to current day political climate.

I love CO2 and everything thing carbon based.

Reality always works, though, even for those who bluntly deny it as it punches them in the face.

You mean "Where is John Galt"...

Wouldn't it be fun watching how these altruistic morons react should their dreams come true? Witness those brave college campus protestors who complain about being hungry after going on hunger strikes in the name of, er, something...

The mind truly wobbles...

At the very least, it'll stop the BS coming out of way too many government officials. Separating the political theater from actual issues is becoming a full time job. Taking in the most charitable way, this is another way to raise cost and risk for those in the hydrocarbon business. The strong who survive this nonsense will be powerful indeed. This crowd needs to be careful what it's wishing for.

For a while. They'll get back to oil-bashing soon after the oil starts flowing again. They have no concept of shame, see Birol.

I do have to draw your attention, dear Irina, to a rather big piece of misinformation. The European Commission is not located on Rue du Luxembourg. Some buildings housing some DGs are, yes.

But the HQ is the Berlaymont building. It's address is Rue de la Loi 200 1049 Brussels.

Ask any farmer in Europe - they will know.

Finally, a pilot project I can really wrap my hands around. The bobbleheads refuse to consider a small pilot project (city based) to prove renewables will save Gaia, because they insist on a worldwide implementation. All at once, and you will enjoy it while it's happening. How could they argue with a Big Oil large scale project. We are only following their lead after all. I've been asked by a former coworker if I read Irina's column today. FANTASTIC as usual. 🤘😎🤘

Thanks! It's odd how they don't want to test the idea at a small scale, yes. Very odd. I guess we have no time to lose.

On Easter Sunday I was invited to dinner at my neighbors. I happened to sit next to a young woman who I had previously met. Very nice. Big smile. Here license plate reads "VEGAN". OK. Fine. We ended up following each other on Instagram.

Now, I have absolutely nothing against anyone who chooses to follow that path of nutrition. Good for them. I'm also willing to listen to why they do it. However, her incessant, daily Instagram posts relative to that topic are simply insane. Once the mind gets messed up, just as with these climate activists, it truly becomes a disease. Rationality gets thrown out the window. Sad.

How do you know someone is a vegan?

Don't worry, they'll tell you.

Irina, I do not believe that governments worldwide would be able to last a full month. And there is another benefit of this, with electricity scarce, if available at all, social media would collapse

This is, indeed, a major additional benefit. We could all use a break.

Thank you for that walk through of "what if they stopped oil and gas production on a dime for a month".

Of course, they couldn't but what if they did.

Your outline is totally logical and understandable to those who choose to think. Apparently, the climate activists just don't have the mental capacity to get it.

Or they refuse to use it because it's so much more exciting to run on emotions alone and feel righteous all the time.

Perfect, Ms. Slav.

Make the "Climate Change" zealots live up to their own rules for life.

No oil means no clothing, no shoes, no transportation, no FOOD.

No oil means a return to slavery & feudalism.

But, of course, oil isn't really the issue. The issue is the population growth of the average person. It's been coal & oil that have allowed the average person to prosper.

As I think I've mentioned before, our self-anointed superiors are terrified that the average person will ruin their "world" as that eugenicist Margaret Sanger was terrified that the black man would ruin *her* "world".

Sanger's solution? Popularize abortion via organizations like Planned Parenthood (of which Sanger was the founder).

Today's solution? Make life so unutterably expensive that the average person won't have children.

And, as you have noted, the more demand that our societies put on electricity, the higher its price. So our self-anointed superiors are forcing us from multiple sources of energy - coal, oil, & gas - into one source, i.e., electricity, forcing its price up.

This would be the Weimar Republic's hyperinflation world-wide.

When he broke the third seal, I heard the third living being say, “Go!” I looked, and there in front of me was a black horse, and its rider held in his hand a pair of scales. Then I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living beings say, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages! Six pounds of barley for the same price! But don’t damage the oil or the wine!”

- Revelation 6 (CJB)

In other words, about $240 (USD) for a kilo of wheat.

Our self-anointed superiors are unutterable nincompoops. What they're doing will lead to the collapse of society world-wide.

Time to plead for God's rescue.

Well, some organisations are openly advocating for no children because they appear to have a huge carbon footprint.

Expand full comment

Exactly.

This whole "no children" mind-set, justified by whatever "problem" our self-anointed superiors can come up with, has its origins in Thomas R. Matlhus's Essay on human population growth and limited resources.

He called for people to voluntarily restrict how many children they had.

Malthus's Essay is, of course, utter bilge but it gave rise to an emotional reaction in academia, i.e., panic. That panic worked its way into the minds of people like Darwin and Marx, both of whom came out of academia. The wealthy & self-anointed superiors of the world then became infected by that panic, too, especially people like Margaret Sanger. It's how Eugenics got its rise as well as National Socialism, i.e., one is superior because of, well, fill in the blanks.

That same panic has worked its way into the news media and, ultimately, into government, both of which have their roots in academia.

That's why we see governments pushing society into EVs, for example.

And don't forget that governments typically financially support academia. One technology school in my area is all in on EV technology study.

That panic has morphed into the "Fight Pollution" / Environmental / AGW / Climate Change / Climate Crisis / Climate Emergency / Extinction Rebellion / Just Stop Oil ideology, all empowered and/or heavily encouraged by government.

So who will arrest the sheriff?

The world will soon find out.

Read Revelation, especially Revelation 12-13, in the Complete Jewish Bible. Think of the animal that rises from the sea as, e.g. the EU / NATO.

These lawsuits are like the tobacco lawsuits. They are an attempted cash grab “settlement” of the complaint. The government doesn’t give a crap about you, your tobacco habit, your food supply, mobility, your comfort or your energy bill. They just want more money to steal and waste. Which makes your idea even more attractive, Irina. Don’t settle, fight or withdraw. The oil companies should abandon Vermont today.
