Outstanding article - and points - The reality of energy is about to wallop some people. I hope that it takes Greenpeace out and it is not the same activist group that Dr. Patrick Moore started. It was highjacked and turned into a radical group funded by some of the bad organizations. I really have a lot of respect for the original group that started Greenpeace, and its original mission was to stop nuclear war and save the whales. - they strayed from that path and became an arm for the left climate group more interested in wealth transfer. - Again, GREAT article.
Quite the head of steam you were releasing there. Especially liked your cat and box model of investing dimwittery. Head faked by a box. Would look good on the passing era's tombstone.
I liked that part too. Last week I set a box next to the front door to take to a friend's house for something she needed to ship. A few hours later, the cat is in the box. Why? She has innumerable other boxes with towels and blankets in them...
I guess, following the analogy, there's plenty of other investments that are even better (towels and blankets), but for some reason, they want the shiny new box which is bare and about to go away forever.
Yes! And to extend the analogy, even wild, scary cats such as lynxes do the box thing because they can't help it, which makes me think of all the big strong bankers who do the equivalent in investing.
It’s time for these destructive protestors to be held accountable. As to what greenpeace did - this was actually a light judge. If it bankrupts them, assets to satisfy the judgement should be taken from the officers of the organization. There is no civility with these violent and destructive protests and none should be shown to them or shared with them.
It is interesting that at least one major founder of GreenPeace quit because he stated the organisation was fixated on the wrong things. By all means moderate, by all means protest - but that isn't what Greenpeace does.
Instead, like many other NGO's they scurry off to well funded 'friends' to get ready for the next 'battle'. See - EU Commission part-funded NGO 'T&E'. See '- sponsorship' of mass immigration. See - no accountability.
proud to be a long time partner in ET.....high time that all the laws about violence and rioting and destruction are finally starting to be enforced against the radical left
Thank you Irina! Today I offer an embarrassment of riches. First, a video in which a recovering activist talks about her experiences, and how, not unexpectedly, some of these campaigning organisations behave like religious cults. She is on at eleven minutes and has the floor for ten minutes (the rest is quite interesting too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCZTEmfrQZg
I've been pondering what word might summarise the position and attitude of the average Joe Public, who isn't an activist. I Iooked up antonyms for "activist" and none seemed right, so I came up with my own - "lethargist". According to the dictionaries it isn't a word. Well I've got news.
My second offering is a video discussion between Nick Hubble of Southbank Investment Research, and Doomberg, on the latest Euro-fantasies around defence and how Europe, through prolonged, consistent and diligent policy, is now an energy vassal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHseLAROOBs
To round off relevantly: if one's German permits one to pronounce "Ursula von der Leyen" accurately and quickly enough, the result is not too dissimilar to "Ursula Wunderland" - clearly much better.
Many companies would have simply rolled over when threatened by Greens. Energy Transfer took them on and won, much to its credit. More companies should do the same.
that story about the $660mm verdict against Greenpeace made my day. I love reading about it and the knowledge they could go bankrupt because of their actions is a perfect ending.
Of course, they will reconstitute themselves in a similar form, but I suspect will be somewhat chastened, at least initially.
This landmark case against Greenpeace is the first major success in exposing and penalizing the putatively legitimate nonprofits that funnel money to lawbreakers embedding themselves in these hybrid protests. If this enormous verdict survives the inevitable appeals, it will be a shot across the bow at all the progressive organizations and web of NGO foundations who fund and hide behind these nonprofits as they do any anti-this or anti-that job that is required.
Greenpeace has many funding sources who deliver the goods and one of course, is the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation. Five sons who are heirs to the massive billions from their oil baron great grandfather John D. Rockefeller of Standard Oil. They preach a moral high ground on the use of dirty fossil fuel money they themselves enjoy to the limit, and send millions to groups such as Greenpeace, but if this case stands, that veneer of respectability and opaque funding channels to shield them from lawsuits or prosecution, may be coming to an end. Now, that would be a day to cheer on.
"Issue Bullies" claim they are defending that which is "right and just" from their narrow view of the world and their opinion of what "right and just" means. Further, according to their opinion, they defend the "rightness and justice" of their actions, often no matter how extreme their actions - are permissible. The "opinion market" is always fought with many different views on what is "right and just." What is "permissible and proper" is sorted out in our elections and laws. The community's "permissible and proper" always trumps opinion markets.

And about those whales that they’re now so quiet about while stupid, pointless windmills in the oceans kill them 🤔
I feel the same way about WWF.
This example of "KARMA is a BIT$H" should be considered for inclusion in the Book of Funny Phrases. 🤘😎🤘
And what a wonderful title for a book!

Oh, that was just write about what you know and all that. But it does seem to be a fitting analogy, yes.

And it had nothing to do with freedom of *speech*.
Absolutely correct. It is about imposition of policy from a tiny minority on the majority without debate or agreement.
Hold on.
That's dictatorship.
right, more than organizational accountability, we need personal responsibility and accountability by those who run the organizations
Agree.

Grok-supplied - five alternative, slightly humorous sayings for "Actions have consequences"
"You reap what you sow, so don’t plant chaos and expect a chill harvest."
"Karma’s like a boomerang—toss it out wild, and it’ll smack you back harder."
"Play silly games, win silly prizes—or a swift kick from fate."
"What goes around comes around, usually with a side of ‘I told you so.’"
"Stir the pot too much, and you’ll be slurping the mess you made."
of course, the current favorite in the States is FAFO
Yes, and we're at the FO stage, which is great.
Reminds me about raising my kids 🤦
😂

They definitely should.
I suppose Soros will need to step up big time to pay the judgement. No that he’s no longer funded by US AID it’ll be interesting to see what happens
He belongs in prison.
So good! Greenpeace may have learned and the fool at Jeffries will soon learn the not so old axiom: play silly games, win silly prizes.
Couldn’t happen to a more awful, wretched, anti-human group.
PS - love the cat inthe box analogy 😂
It's a favourite classic. :D

I must admit I quite enjoy their outrage.
There’s no better quip in the Energy Transfer vs. Greenpeace case than the one that states “the dildo of consequences rarely arrives lubricated.”
It’s the subject of our next post.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA.

There's an acronym for what happened to Greenpeace:
FAFO
F*ck around and find out

The ruling was a good ruling.
Great points.
