The so-called independents in the U.S. oil industry that contributed significantly to the transformation of the country into the largest oil producer in the world recently returned to the spotlight as the drivers of any output increase that might take place amid higher oil prices.
Unburdened by demanding shareholders, energy independents such as Margaret’s MPG Petroleum could respond to Washington’s calls for oil, more oil. And they would, if Washington stopped making life so difficult for them.
